Sashiko Stitching Workshop

With Moira Byrne

Sashiko is a form of hand-sewn Japanese embroidery dating back several hundred years. It is based on simple running stitches to form more complex patterns.  Originally, used to make mended garments more beautiful, it developed into unique and intricate pattern-making.  Today it is a form of slow stitching that is mindful and meditative.

This workshop will include showing a variety of traditional patterns, learning the methods used and making a small sample of a typical pattern.
